J’adoube, sponsored by The Looking Glass, is a fascinating build filled of both whimsy and beauty. Giant chesspieces, chessboard-patterned flowers and butterflies, boats with trees sprouting from them. It feels like walking into a different reality, a sidestep away from the world as we know it. I could not resist the opportunity to blog some of the beautiful pieces that make up J’adoube, though I knew I could not possibly capture a similar feeling to the full sim. Instead, I opted for showing off some beautiful period clothing from Old Treasures and Portal (including a couple of great gifts/cheapies at the birthday round of We Love Role-Play) over a game of chess in a garden.
Today is the final day of Fantasy Faire for this year, the final hours before the Fairelands disappear into the mists once more. But, they always return, in one form or another. For my final post, I thought it was fitting to commemorate this by incorporating some items from previous Fantasy Faires together with some key pieces from this year.
I ran out of a bit of steam after the first week of more intensive Fantasy Faire blogging, but now I am back to remind you that you have until May 10th to explore and shop at the 18 sims that make up the Fairelands. For this post, I decided to focus a lot on decor items, featuring pieces from Harshlands, the Looking Glass and Roawenwood, as well as a lovely dress from Belle Epoque which actually is a tie-in to the pieces from Harshland.
In Welsh myth, you can recognize the creatures of Annwn—the Otherworld—by their white coats and red ears. If a pack of white hounds with red-tipped ears races through the woods, take care because the rest of the fairy hunt may follow. This seemed like a very appropriate subject for today. Walpurgis Night, the night before Beltane, is the last day of the Wild Hunt, their last chance until Samhain to cause havoc. Here in Sweden, bonfires are traditionally lit to scare off various supernatural creatures that are about on this night (though in some parts of the country, the bonfires have moved to Easter instead, when they primarily scare away witches).
The Ark (which closes today, so hurry up and visit!) is a new event focused on pets, animals and related items. I had been looking forward to it since it was announced, but I must admit that I was somewhat disappointed in the first round as it seemed like too many items that you could have found at just any other event. However, there were definitely some really good things on offer too, with one of the top picks being the latest Teeglepet horse from Teegle—the Friesian. Since I’ve collected all the previous ones, of course I had to get this one too.
In this post, I am also showcasing a bridle for the Friesian by Mythril, decor and clothing from The Looking Glass and Roped Passions for the Spoonful of Sugar Festival and a new dress from Senzafine for We Love Role-Play.
At the edge of the woods, amidst lush grass and beneath a tall tree, Esmeralda had setup camp a long time ago and somehow never left. The horses wandered nearby, grazing and growing fat, and beside the colourful wagon a stonemason had helped her build a fine firepit. Perhaps she would feel like wandering again some day, but for now she was content.
A Fantasy Faire vignette, featuring items from Fantavatar & Moonstruck, Evie’s Closet and the Looking Glass. As always, remember that the items in the RFL vendors donate to the American Cancer Society, so you will be shopping and doing a good deed at the same time.
