No, I haven’t opened a new store in Second Life. The little shape collection lives happily on the Marketplace and will probably remain just there for now. However, if I were to need a new store build, MyStore—the new modular store-building set by Fanatik—would be a serious contender. Want to get a closer look at it? I made a video showing the building blocks and the five pre-made store builds.
Alia Baroque of Fallen Gods has this truly poisonous green skin out at the spooky Hallow Manor event. It is of course available for both male and female avatars, as with all skins from Fallen Gods, and it includes Omega appliers and system layers which means I was able to use it with the new Slink Visage Jacquie head which uses Bakes on Mesh. I think Jacquie makes for a very cute green girl, especially in the Halloween edition of Lil’ Miss Snow from deviousMind which fits the poison theme perfectly. I would definitely think twice about trying her apples!
La vie en pose is now open, so hurry up and check it out before the 25th of October. The event offers poses, props and backdrops and for this round you’ll see quite a few pumpkins and witches. The set I am showing today is one of the latter, a cute prop/backdrop set from Secret Poses with eight bento-enabled poses that include a bottle of love potion.
My Bakes on Mesh-kick got even more intense yesterday when Slink all of a sudden released SIX Bakes on Mesh-ready bento heads, five for women and one for men. Two of the female heads are updates of the previous static heads, Emma and Becky, so if you owned those you can now grab a redelivery for free! How is that for excellent support? Siddean was kind enough to send me the three completely new heads as well and of course this merited a very in-depth look at the whole set. And what better way to do that than with a video? This also gave me an opportunity to show off the new facial animation HUD from Vista that I picked up just two days ago.
In this post I have also included a head shot of each head with various system layer skins I dug up from my inventory to play with as well as credits for what is shown in the video. And if you want to learn more about Bakes on Mesh, do check out the excellent FAQ by Slink.
A new event from the Fantasy Collective has hit the grid. Days of Yore: An Age Undreamed Of takes its inspiration from history and lets imagination run wild from there. Several of my favourite creators have made amazing outfits for it that I plan to show you over the next few days, provided that RL co-operates. I am going to start off with a very elaborate and fantastical set from the Plastik which channels a good dose of Xena. So of course I needed one of my new Teeglepets to play at being a warhorse. A very obedient warhorse, needing no bridle or saddle.
After a bit of a hiatus from vlogging, I finally had time to a video featuring two awesome recent releases: The Pompeii Bathhouse from Tia and the Gerard bento head from Vista. Fair warning, I was a bit out of practice and perhaps a bit too talkative, so the video may feature more rambling than usual. Not that don’t ramble in general, but you get the idea. You may skip ahead to the essentials. ;)
I do need to make some small corrections to what I said in the video regarding the Gerard head. It is currently on sale in the Vista mainstore for L$2000. It is the add-on facial hair that is available at the Mesh Body Addicts Fair. There is also a brand-new bundle (released today) of the head plus a full bento AO for L$3500.
At first, my plan had been to do a video at Skin Fair, looking at some of my favourite new releases. But time ran away with me and I did not have time before it was open to the public. However, there is one new release at the fair which definitely deserves a video to properly demonstrate it, namely the new Petite Chest Augment from Slink. To show it as clearly as possible, I have opted for staying topless for much of the video, which means I have had to age restrict it just to be safe. I show the augment on both Slink bodies and demonstrate how it reacts to the sliders.
The title seemed like a good description of Liliya from Voluptas Virtualis as the set consists of little more than dainty strings and a few triangles of fabric, which also can be made partially sheer. The set is accompanied by new shoes from Slink for Shoetopia and a new hair from Wasabi Pills, as well as some different pieces from the same jewellery by the Plastik as in my last post.
We are heading into the last weekend of the Skin Fair and I thought I would revisit some of my favourite skins. This year I have focused a lot on closeups rather than in-depth looks at the skin bodies, so I decided to take a different approach with this post. It isn’t one of my old style skin reviews, with detailed comparisons of the body shading, but you do get to see a lot more of the skins than previously. I also took the opportunity to show some more poses from the Sovereign Born Royal Chaise from Roawenwood for the March Treasure Chest, though the very first image uses a static pose from oOo Studios.
Today I thought I would take a bit of an overdue look at the bento update to the Slink hands which came out a few weeks ago. And, seeing as we’re talking about bento, a video was of course in order to show the new possibilities with these hands. I also took the opportunity to show off the FATE Hand Poser and several sets of new manicures from the Plastik, as well as featuring two new releases from the Ostara’s Altar event (which I ended up calling Altar of Ostara in the video) since that suited the beautiful spring weather we’ve had today.
A few days ago, Siddean Munro announced that a big update of all three Slink bodies has been completed. She also released video tutorials for the core feature of the update, namely the brand new HUD. I have been playing with the new HUD for a while and I’ve found it a huge improvement both in terms of layout and functionality. To add my own spin to the tutorials available, I decided to spend Christmas Day recording another video.
From medieval castles to the beautiful Black Basalt Beach and a distinctly more modern look. One Bad Pixel (now located in the same building as Slink), the collaboration between sachi Vixen of Adam n Eve and Siddean Munro of Slink, have just had a brand relaunch. With it comes updates to most of their previous products to fitted mesh for Slink Physique and Slink Physique Hourglass as well as a couple of new releases, made specifically for the Slink mesh bodies. The dress I am wearing is one of these new releases and while it may look a bit like I strolled down to the beach from a party, the sandals by Zaara definitely belong in this setting.
Today I am dancing through the woods on my tiptoes to summon spring. Or rather, my virtual self is, but given that its back to rain around here I might be up for some spring summoning myself. In particular, I am really hoping the weekend stays dry as I am doing my first-ever dressage competition on Sunday. For now, though, I am content to listen to the rain (it sounds a bit springy, admittedly) putting together this post which focuses on the latest We Love Role-Play round as well as a big Slink update.
Physique Hourglass, a second mesh body from Slink, has just been released. In terms of the technical features (such as the alpha cuts on the HUD, the tinting and so on), these are the same as on the regular Physique body. And yes, your Physique appliers will all work on Physique Hourglass as well. However, as this body is not made with the idea of providing an improved version of the basic Second Life shape which still stays relatively close to that shape, mesh clothing is a different matter. As with other bodies who deviate significantly from the basic shape, Physique Hourglass may need mesh clothing made specifically for that body for the best results (such as the lingerie set included with the body).
To give a look at Physique Hourglass as well as a sense of how it and the regular Physique body differ from each other, I’ve done four comparison shots, using two different shapes. I believe this shows some of the possibilities of each mesh body.
There’s a new man in town and he’s got quite a nice physique. A Slink Physique, even. Yes, indeed, Siddean Munro has finally released a male mesh body and it actually comes with some features that have yet to make it to the female Slink Physique body (though the release announcement promises that they will soon appear there as well). The body comes with a skin in several tones but there are already some options for appliers out there, such as the new Jake skin from Adam n Eve which I am using to show the body off in this post. Do note that this review contains full frontal nudity.
