Just a little quick evening post with a recent release from Narcisse, the Helena dress. This beautifully draped dress is available at FaMESHed X and it earns its place at the adult event by having the option to be either solid or sheer, with the top and bottom controlled separately. If you do opt for sheer for the skirt, you can choose to turn on a pair of panties in a matching hue…or you can choose not to. ;) I think you can see by these pictures what I picked!
I felt like it was time for a touch of magic, so I donned the Obscuritas crown from lassitude & ennui on top of my Inoko hair from Wasabi and conjured up some magical auras with a bit of help from the Dreaming Thicket. I performed my incantations in the gothic Rhordyn Towertop Skybox from Trompe Loeil, which offers a vast, cathedral-like space with huge windows at either end. Along the sides, there are stone alcoves that can be used if something less expensive is desired.
I had thought of doing something more New Year’s inspired, but then I went shopping at Fanatik yesterday as they announced a big sale and ended up stuck doing some landscaping around one of my castles instead. That also seemed like a very good bit of scenery for showing off one of Senzafine’s recent gowns and letting you know that Senzafine and the Muses have had to more their mainstores. Senzafine has also put on a sale in conjunction with the move. All details about the two sales and the move below, plus a brief look at the newest gacha hair from Analog Dog.
I managed to find a little time between preparing various dishes for Christmas to make a new vlog for Otherworldly, focusing on Vista’s new bento head and a few other items, such as recent releases from lassitude & ennui and paper moon. As usual, I have the credits at the end of the post. And yes, the Astrology contest I mention in the video is still going on, so check it out.
It probably won’t last over Christmas, but right now it is pretty and white outside my RL window as well, making it particularly appealing to setup another cosy holiday scene in SL too. For this one, I decided to use the dining set by also Known as from Redeux while I dressed warmly in knits from Applique Chic and the Plastik (I am also wearing a cute pair of heels that are matched to the leg warmers) and wore a new hair (with metallic antler accessory) from Wasabi. Poses are, once more, by Serendipity.
I am not a coffee drinker (which is pretty unusual in Sweden!) and while I do like tea, my favourite hot drink indulgence is without a doubt hot chocolate. Best drunk in winter, of course, especially outdoors at a Christmas market where you often get it flavoured with cinnamon. Delicious! So, for my second Redeux post for this round, I setup the hot cocoa stand from Roawenwood as a backdrop.
I spent the day doing some Christmas shopping (mostly various edible things, yum) and after surviving the crowds that had descended on Gothenburg today I decided that I wanted to setup a very tranquil-feeling scene for today’s photos. What better spot than our little northern corner of ice and snow? It was also perfect for showing off two new releases for Redeux, which is running from December 14th to December 21st, offering a great mix of designers showcasing both new exclusive items and discounted items.
But that is not all the newness that I have for you today. I am wearing the brand new Emily head from Vista, which may be my favourite so far of their heads, and I also need to tell you about a promotion from Astrology that gives you the chance to win the entire store.
Dreaming Thicket has a new gown out at We Love Role-Play, this time inspired by Viking and early medieval gowns. It is a simple style that comes in earthy colours that look warm and comforting during the winter season. I used a few pieces from Nomad’s Midgard gacha to setup the scene of an early winter morning in a wooden house with a central fireplace and some simple furnishings. The hair is a favourite from Stealthic which looks great in red, the freckled skin is from alaskametro and the head is one of my LightStar heads, Marian.
As soon as I saw the Frozen Kingdom gacha from HEXtraordinary, I knew I wanted to setup a kingdom for an Ice Queen. Around the same time, Chandra Meehan sent me the Magick gacha and when I tried it out and saw the snowflake accessories, it was clear what my Ice Queen would be wearing. I also picked up the latest releases from LORE at We Love Role-Play to build the gate into her kingdom.
There was just one problem. I did not own the Maitreya body and while many outfits do work on Slink Physique, this was not one of them. So, I decided to bite the bullet and pick up another body to be able to blog more widely. But I remain firm in my opinion that the hips, thighs and bottom of Physique Original are far better and more realistic. Physique Hourglass is a different beast altogether, though I am pretty happy with how I have managed to “tame” it. But, I digress!
The last month of the year is here and I am busy with the usual stuff (decorating, baking, etc) and some unexpected complications (a lame horse), but once I get through this weekend I should have a bit more time to breathe at least. For today’s photos, perhaps I should have gone for a winter look rather than an autumn feel, but I really liked the look of this skin in deep reds and greens. So, I went for an autumn faun/satyr prancing through the woods and coming across a curious well with a sculpture of a little kinsman!
After residing for a number of years in our lovely cottage from Alchemy Immortalis (a much-missed brand in Second Life), it was time for our Marquis furniture set from Libertine to move somewhere new. I thought it would be interesting to setup a little bit of a classy dungeon in the lower levels of one of our Fanatik castles and this is the start of it. Of course I had to try it out for some photos and I since I did have a lovely corset from Voluptas Virtualis that seemed like a good match. Plus, I snagged myself a new mesh head during the weekend—Logo’s Ivona.
This is of course a weekend full of great deals in Second Life and I thought I would share just a few from the flood of Black Friday/Black Weekend sales. I rather prefer the virtual sales in Second Life to the physical ones; they satisfy the shopping urge without making me feel horribly consumerist. After all, a mesh head or two more won’t tax the environment that much! I haven’t actually shopped LOGO’s fantastic sale yet (75% off their heads and hud!), but Ran did pick up their second male head since he’s been very happy with the first one. However, I do have a hair to share from Astrology (50% off all regularly priced items) and a skin from Lumae (70% off all 2018 skins with Skin Addiction group tag). Plus this “swamp girl” outfit from Noble Creations, though that is not a sale item but a new release for Whimsical. Finally, Serendipity does have several heavily discounted pose sets right now, plus 50% on everything else.
Working hats into my usual looks is often a bit of a struggle, so when the lovely Willow hair from Wasabi was released I did not have an immediate idea for what to wear it with. But then the Plastik released their new set for Collabor88 and that is how this go-go girl with a Western twist came about. Both poses are from one of Serendipity’s 30L Saturday offerings.
I promised you would be seeing more of the new castle from Fanatik, so here is a view by one of the windows. I really like the wistfulness created by someone gazing out a window like this and I thought it made for a nice contrast with the fiery textures of the new gown from Senzafine for We Love Role-Play. I also added in a further light source in the shape of a brazier from Fantavatar & Moonstruck, also from We Love Role-Play. Which reminds me, there’s a few things I would love to see in terms of decor for medieval houses and castles. Number one on that list? Rushes for covering the floors, that would give a great, rustic look. Storage chests are another nice decor item that is great for filling out a room a bit with.
I’ve had a bit of a crazy week with entirely too many long trips for various activities. It has all been fun (well, mostly) but it hasn’t left me with much time to relax and play around with Second Life. Yesterday, I managed to sneak in some photos, though I ran out of time to post them. I found a couple of nice new seated poses at Serendipity’s 30 Linden Saturday sale and they were just right for showing off the new corset from Voluptas Virtualis and the Samantha hair from Wasabi.
