We Love Role-Play meets the Dog & Pony Show in today’s post, which dresses up the Teeglepet Akhal Teke with the brand-new Regalia tack set from Cheval D’or (which includes both PBR and fallback textures) and the Akhal Teke Gold applier from the Texture Barn. On this handsome eastern steed, a rogue rides into a medieval city, wearing a PBR-textured outfit from Project and a very fancy bejewelled eyepatch from Pendulum, both from WLRP.
The Teeglepet we’ve already looked at in a prior post, though I think I forgot to mention that the default texture is a PBR-texture, just like on the Marwari. The Regalia set, like the Dune Lord set, draws inspiration from traditional Marwari tack, but it has been made available for the Akhal Teke as well and looks fabulous on it. And of course it offers a number of texturing options for all the different pieces. The applier from the Texture Barn is a classic Akhal Teke colour, a burnished gold, which also shows off how lean and thin-skinned these horses tend to be, by including detailed muscles and veining.
The outfit from Project includes shirt, breeches and boots and very extensive texturing options for all pieces, including the ability to separate out buttons and different parts of the boots. The PBR textures look amazing on the boots in particular, but it is tougher to get non-shiny surfaces like the shirt to be completely realistic. However, this is definitely a brand to keep an eye on if they plan to keep making such nicely texture role-play outfits for men. Finally, we have the eyepatch from Pendulum, which comes in a left eye and a right eye version and includes both PBR and fallback textures on the HUD. I would have liked the design to include how it is supposed to be fastened, I admit, even if it is obviously designed for the visual impact rather than being at all functional.
Oh, and I lied, I did have one more thing to mention. The Courney hair from Magika is a new release that is out at Access and I do love that she keeps including male sizes on all her hairs.
In the midday heat, the dusty frontier town lay quiet. A horse rested at the watering trough outside the saloon, lazily swishing at flies with its tail. A pretty redhead leaned against one of the posts, idly watching it.
Welcome to HopScotch’s Frontier in a box, a wild west backdrop with all the essential buildings for a classic western town that you can configure as you like. You can find this set at the current round of We Love Role-Play, available as individual pieces or as a fatpack, with a 25% discount during the event.
The gorgeous green dress I am wearing is another WLRP release, this one from Miel. It is for eBody Reborn but I am wearing it on Lara X which works well with alphas. Since this is a Birthday Round for WLRP, the creators have gifts out and Miel actually has one colour of this lovely gown as a gift. The hair is Retreat from Stealthic, a longer style with pretty waves.
A final adventure for this year, as the Fairelands are set to recede into the mists today. It has been a wonderful experience as usual and as much as I wish the sims would stay all year around, it wouldn’t be the same. I already can’t wait to see what the amazing worldbuilders and other creators will come up with next year! I will leave you with a video from Avalon and of course credits to everything can be found at the end of the post.
It would not be the Dog & Pony Show without new releases from Teegle and this year they’ve got a massive lineup of news: two new horses, three new dogs, resized versions of the first three dogs released and also dog collars and leashes. And that is not even all, there’s more to come in a few days!
The new horses are a “Jewel” the Percheron and “Spice” the draft foal. The Percheron is a draft breed from France which descends from the medieval warhorses. It is not generally as tall as Belgians or Clydesdales, but it is quite solidly built while still being agile. In France, only black and grey Percherons can be registered, but the US registry allows additional colours. The default coat for the Teegle Percheron is a beautiful grey, but I have some new coats from the Dog & Pony Show to share with you as well so I applied the lovely dappled Poe coat from Royal’s Customs. As you can see, it includes some very nice materials as well. Royal’s Customs has several more gorgeous coats at the event.
The best event in Second Life for ponies and now also pooches is back! The big Teegle event of the year, now renamed to the Dog & Pony Show, opens on September 29th and it is jam-packed with coats, accessories and everything else your four-hoofed/pawed friends might need. Or yourself, in case you prefer being the horse to riding the horse! The event will run until October 23 and in addition to tons of cool new releases, it will feature a packed schedule of events and demonstrations. As well as, of course, the immensely popular One Of A Kind auctions.
I am thrilled to have the chance to blog this event and for my initial post, the teaser before the event opens, I went straight for the brand new riding arena from The Domineaux Effect in which I setup a small jumping course using the English Show Jump set from Simply Shelby. As my mount for the day I selected the Tennessee Walker and prettied him up with a new coat from the Cozy Den and added Polo Wraps from Cinnamon. The tack set is Cheval D’or’s Pinnacle Saddle Seat, a previous release.
Ever since the Teeglepets were introduced, I have wanted a nice-looking riding outfit in Second Life. There have been some out there, but nothing has quite caught my eye. Now, however, there’s a very nice casual riding set out from Cheval D’or. Alana is a full outfit with a sun shirt, shirt, breeches (boot cut and regular), socks and jodphurs. The set comes fitted for Maitreya, Legacy and Reborn and includes a texture hud for lots of different colour combinations. It is perfect both for chores around the barn and for riding in. As such, it was just the right thing for showing off some more PLAZA goodies, this time centered around Teegle and also Splintered Creations, the creators of the lovely welcome sign shown in the first image.
The Fantasy Faire closed yesterday, but thankfully bloggers had a chance to wander the sims a final time today. I took the opportunity to ride through some of the sims on one of my trusty Teegle steeds and take a few last photos. I hope everyone has enjoyed the Faire and done lots of shopping and exploring. Until next year!
Where did July go? Oh I know, our new puppy ate the whole month! Its been a fun (but sometimes exhausting) few weeks and not until now have I been able to steal some time for blogging. Which means there’s quite a back log of things I really want to showcase, some of them no longer brand new releases.
One of these is the Viking Hut Gamla from Del-ka Aedilis. This is a commoners dwelling and I like the idea of this simple hut being found far away from a village, with perhaps an outlaw or a wise old woman living in it. In this case, I think it must be an outlaw, seeing the fine horse with the fancy tack hitched outside. The horse is by Teegle, of course, and the tack by Cheval D’or.
The Viking Hut Gamla comes in this mossy version and a regular one, plus in a separate package there’s a snow-covered version. Also included are three different textures for the door with different symbols and a lighter wall texture.
Verdandi is the “middle sister” of the Norns in Norse mythology, her domain is the present and her name essentially means “that which is happening/becoming”. It is also the name of the beautiful makeup set from Seydr for the Fantasy Faire that I am wearing for this post. There’s no Norse-inspired Faireland this year, but between that makeup and the Norse Warrior tack set from Cheval D’or, a Vikingesque post was inevitable. Fortunately, I have a beautiful snowy landscape all of my own. By no means as spectacular as a Faireland, but I think it served these photos well.
Time to revisit some of those Teegle releases for the Home & Garden Expo, now together with releases by The Flying Pony and Cosmos Boutique, both from the mall on Hope 6.
Remember that the Home & Garden Expo raises money for RFL and each of the vendors will have at least one and generally several RFL donation vendors!
The Home & Garden Expo runs from February 26th to March 20th and raises money for Relay for Life. I will be covering one of the nine sims, Hope 6, and giving you a taste of the merchants that can be found there and what their new releases and donation items are. The main sponsor of Hope 6 is Teegle and so my first post focuses on new releases from Teegle and Teegle-associated brands. The two big ones are undoubtedly the Quarter Horse Teeglepet and the Western riding system from Mythril. But there are also two new coats from Teegle and three new decor/home & garden items. And Cheval D’or, which also has its store on Hope 6, has fitted all their existing sets to the Quarter Horse as well as released a new wavy mane and tail set. They also have a 20% off sale at the Expo. To give you a good look at these items, I’ve put together a video on location. I even tackled showing off the gaits from the Western riding system and managed to keep from crashing into the fence too many times. ;)
Cheval D’or has a gorgeous, circus-inspired harness out as a limited set for Valentine’s. I picked it up for the Pegasus and colour-coordinated it to my outfit via the HUD which offers both some preset textures and the ability to tint on top of these. The set also comes with two types of reins, static ones and a set for using with a cart.
Speaking of my outfit, that is another NextUp release from deviousMind, the GoodFortune set which has a bit of an Asian-inspired feel to it (though perhaps not so apparent with the pieces I am using). I am finding that this type of gacha-replacement works pretty well, though admittedly deviousMind has always had very fair sets where its easy to get useable items without needing every piece. For example, the SilkBlouse and Panties are in the same set and are perfectly wearable without anything else.
My hair is Wasabi’s latest release, out now at Anthem. The Pink hair is unrigged (and thus resizeable) and includes an optional hair clip. The skin is Selene in Milk from Poema’s Rahra-line which I really like on the Zora head from LeLutka.
Both of my poses are from Be My Mannequin; I have blogged these particular poses before but they suited the scene very well. The horses are using poses from Mythril.
You still have a couple of days left until the SL Christmas Expo closes on the 14th of December. My final post from the event takes a look at the latest Teeglepet release, the majestic Andalusian horse. And of course he gets a little video to show him off. Apologies in advance for my steering, apparently I can’t ride and talk at the same time in SL. ;)
In the video, I mention that there is a One of a Kind Andalusian up for grabs at the charity auction, and if you want to know more about that, check out this link. The auction ends tomorrow, Sunday the 12th, so don’t miss your chance to bid!
Below the video I’ve included a couple of shots of the horse on its own, to give a better look at both him and the beautiful Cantara tack set from Cheval D’or. And the full credits are at the end, of course.
This year I decided to combat the urge to shop for real things I don’t need during Black Friday by instead buying lots and lots of virtual things. I did get a few things IRL as well, but only planned purchases I had had my eye on for a while. The same was not strictly true for my Second Life shopping spree. ;) Some of it will be seen in this post, but there’s plenty left for later too. I’ve also got a brand new release to talk about, the first new hair from Wasabi for a while and it comes with some big changes for the brand.
The Horse Show is back! From September 18th to October 2nd you can visit this fabulous event and shop for tack, coats, stable decor, stables, riding clothes and, of course, Teeglepet horses. In fact, this year there are two brand new breeds at the event, the Tennessee Walking Horse and the American Saddlebred. These are both so-called gaited breeds, meaning that they have different and additional gaits compared to the walk, trot, canter and gallop you’re used to seeing. The new animations are fabulous! Of course, this required a video. In it, I also take a look at new releases from gSpot, Majestic Designs, Star Sugar, Multifarious, Tutto e Vanita and Cheval D’or. You also get to see the two Limited Edition versions of the new breeds. These are available ONLY during the duration of the Horse Show and sold in no copy only and they are gorgeous.
And speaking of limited editions, there are some even more rare things on offer at the One of a Kind auction where you can bid on tack, coats and even a OOAK horse. These are produced in a single copy each, meaning the auction winners will have something no one else owns. The auction ends on the 26th, so get your bids in!
Below the video you’ll find some photos as well as full credits for everything shown in the video.
