Skin Fair: Kirsten by Adam n Eve

Mesh heads are generally Not My Thing. Or rather, I don’t mind playing dress-up now and then, so I sort a mesh head into the same category as elf ears or a drow skin; they can be cool to create a look around, but they’re not what I like to wear on a regular basis. However, as a result of nagging sachi Vixen to make new skins for Adam n Eve now and then, I’ve found myself with the Jessica head from Catwa. Because I am not very familiar with mesh heads (though I do have the Slink heads as well), I won’t be offering an in-depth review of the head, just showing how it can look with the Kirsten applier which is available at the Skin Fair as well as in the Adam n Eve mainstore. What I will look more closely at, however, is a new eye gadget from Damien Fate.

Dungeon Crawler

It is the nature of the beast, but with so many events running all the time, you often end up focusing on an event just for a few days after it opens. But of course, if you want some lag free, pleasant shopping, you really want to go there after a week or so if it is a very popular event. For example, We Love Role-Play should be great to visit right now and Skin Fair is probably quite good too, especially since the script limits have been dropped.

Ethereal Lounging

The March round of We Love Role-Play opens at 3 pm today. I wont be home by then, so I will have to check it out in a few days, but fortunately I have some shiny things to show you as a sneak peak. Judging by the previews, this round will have a good mix of items, but the jewellery may be particularly outstanding this time as evidenced by these releases from Luminary, Aisling and ieQED. You are also getting a better look at the Rebecca skin which Adam n Eve will be releasing the Skin Fair.

Benched

Its been rather dreadful weather today, so the idea of slipping into something comfortable in front of a fireplace certainly appeals. Of course, the latest outfit from Aisling, available at the Whimsical event, is perhaps more dead-sexy than comfortable. Also featured in this post are new releases from Noble Creations, Libertine and Barnesworth Anubis.

A Feast for Two

After a brief absence, the Muses are back with four new gowns and it wasn’t easy for me to decide which one to pick up. But I managed to make up my mind and the gown I did pick went beautifully with Aisling’s release for the upcoming round of Enchantment which opens later today. Also covered in this post are Fantasy Gacha Carnival pieces from Velvet Whip and SWaGGa as well as a new hair from Magika.

Guardians

The Fantasy Gacha Carnival has opened up a new round. The theme has the potential to be more than a little iffy concerning IP rights, since it is billed as “Game of Thrones vs Star Wars”, but fortunately there are quite a few original and unproblematic gachas available at the event. Granted, these do tend to be the ones with the least direct connection to the theme, but in this case that doesn’t bother me since they are quite fabulous fantasy items. For my first post, I am taking a closer look at the very impressive entries by Aisling and Alchemy.

Sleek Bindings

Today, I’m taking a look at another gacha from Objets d’Amour, namely Roawenwood’s Sleek Bindings. In addition to that, I am showing three We Love Role-Play releases, from Aisling, Calico and Noble Creations.

Feathered Creatures

I had an unwanted visitor this week in the shape of a cold, so I have spent a few frustrated days getting nothing at all done and seeing various things build up, including the number of review copies in my inventory. I’ll be playing catch-up for a while, I can tell, so I might as well dive in right away to give you some new releases from Zaara, Aisling, Fallen Gods & Faida and Jian.

Holiday Preparations

I am in the middle of getting things ready for Christmas in RL, so it certainly seeps into my mood in SL as well. Our cottage from much-missed Alchemy Immortalis was picked as the perfect setting for a cosy scene featuring some new décor from Aisling and Paper Moon as well as a new alaskametro skin, a hair from Tableau Vivant and the last chance on a dress from The Muses.

Adventures with Textures

For the last two weeks, I have been taking on a new project in Second Life (building our own “castle” with Jammin’s sets seems to have sparked a desire to be more creative), namely texturing a mesh template. It all started when Leto announced a sale on some of their mesh resources and I couldn’t resist picking up the Tudor 006 semi-exclusive fitmesh template, even though I didn’t have a clue if I would manage to use it at all. But I wanted to give it a try, since I’ve been wanting to create clothing inspired by our Westeros heraldry for myself for quite a while. After a lot of cursing and a rough introduction to Photoshop, I’ve finally managed to put something together that I am happy to wear. Anyone who says that creators that use templates have it easy, you just need to slap on a texture, need to try doing it themselves. Sure, you can slap on a texture, but it won’t look good. I have a lot left to learn before I could get anywhere close to some of the excellent template users out there.

The December round of the Arcade is just around the corner, and Aisling will be participating with the Nini’s Living Room gacha. Here, we decided that the set made for a nice backdrop as we take a closer look at our latest skin purchases from DeeTalez and Birth as well as remind you why Slink Physique is a great choice for both male and female avatars.

Secret Affairs

I am still wandering about in our new build, this time in the dark dungeons below the upper levels. They are a little bare still as we search for suitable furnishings, but I am already feeling at home there. This post, however, is about a striking new updo hair from Calico for the Secret Affair as well as another lovely piece of jewellery from Aisling for We Love Role-Play.

My Pleasure

As I mentioned earlier, the commons from the Plaisir set by Fallen Gods and Faida for the Fantasy Gacha Carnival are very pretty. So, today I am wearing half of the set, combined with an upcoming necklace from Aisling.

A Castle of My Own

I have slipped a bit behind on my blogging of late, but this time it is Second Life itself that is to blame. More specifically, Jammin’s various construction sets. I had been eyeing those for a good while, and when the brand-new Dungeon Construction Set came out, I decided that with that set I could probably construct something castle-like. Not quite a castle yet, since the existing sets don’t quite lend themselves to a full-scale castle, but the dungeon set definitely offers a lot of new interior space options. So, our work in progress is the backdrop for this photo session, which also includes a dress from Fallen Gods and Faida, a necklace from Aisling and a statue from Paper Moon and the Muses under the Visage name.

The New Art

A new round of the Fantasy Gacha Carnival has started and Aisling is participating with an elaborate, art nouveau-inspired jewellery set. I decided to stage the shot in one of our little patches of woodland, using the Titania’s Feast set from the Muses as part of the scene. I am also wearing a pair of brand new mesh eyes from PXL.
