Otherworldly

The Journey Begins

The time had come to leave the solitude of the rural keep and return to the court, however much she would have preferred to remain at her chosen retreat. But no, the game demanded all players in position and she would have to take up her appointed role once more.

For the June round of We Love Role-Play, which opens in about an hour, Del-ka Aedilis has released a medieval carriage for travel roleplay. It cannot be used as a vehicle, but it does include poses for being seated in the carriage and it has room for one male and one female sitter. The carriage comes with and without the two hitched horses and also in pure deco versions. There are lots of nice little details, such as the luggage and supplies stacked in the back and I love the little candle inside the carriage. A very nice roleplay prop which I am tempted to try and hitch some Teegle horses to.

The opulent dress, which consists of a pretty undergown (which offers three different styles for the chest and arms) that could be worn on its own and an elaborate overgown, is by Rakshasa for We Love Role-Play. Its beautifully made and fitted for a nice range of bodies.

With the dress I am wearing a new updo from No.Match that I picked up at the Arcade as well as a new skin from Nar Mattaru for the Level event. Since it was made specifically for my favourite LeLutka head, Zora, I could not resist picking it up and I think I will be making some shapes for it as I really like the way it looks. As with all Nar Mattaru skins, it has great character. It also includes some nice extras; a nose fit for other heads than Zora, contours, blush, eyeshadow and a few other things.

Ornamented Courtesan

I love how ornate the Carai outfit from Petrichor and Ersch for the Warehouse Sale manages to be even though there isn’t a lot of it! The thin chains drape beautifully from the pieces of filigree and the fabric (for which there are several different HUDs) is subtly patterned.  There is, of course, also a HUD for the metal which offers lots of different textures.  Prefer feminine pastels or darkly sensual hues? The choice is yours.  I am always drawn to lush colours and I wanted something suited for a courtesan to lounge about in an opulent bed in. Speaking of the bed, it is a favourite of mine, the renaissance canopy bed from Fantavatar & Moonstruck.  The other new release in this post is the hair from Wasabi, featuring two thick braids that can be draped over your shoulders or pushed back behind them. Here I’ve got one of each. You will find it at the Fifty.

The Nymphaeum

Do you need a place for your nymphs to gather? Or a beautiful centerpiece for your formal garden? At PLAZA, you will find the Nymphaeum by Color by Eve.  This build is Inspired by the nymphaea of the Roman period, which have their origins as monuments consecrated to the nymphs, especially those associated with springs. They could serve as sanctuaries, as water reservoirs and also as places of assembly. Water-features and statues were common decorations.

Welcome to the Farm

Ever since the Teeglepets were introduced, I have wanted a nice-looking riding outfit in Second Life.  There have been some out there, but nothing has quite caught my eye. Now, however, there’s a very nice casual riding set out from Cheval D’or. Alana is a full outfit with a sun shirt, shirt, breeches (boot cut and regular), socks and jodphurs. The set comes fitted for Maitreya, Legacy and Reborn and includes a texture hud for lots of different colour combinations. It is perfect both for chores around the barn and for riding in.  As such, it was just the right thing for showing off some more PLAZA goodies, this time centered around Teegle and also Splintered Creations, the creators of the lovely welcome sign shown in the first image.

PLAZA Is Here

PLAZA is a new event focused all on Home & Garden products. The event opened on the 20th of May and runs until the 14th of June, offering two sims full of houses, landscaping, furnishings and much more.  A list of participating stores is provided on the website and each store logo offers a direct link to the store’s location on the event sims.

For my first look at what PLAZA has to offer, I’ve setup a stylish, modern home from Maven Homes. The Deja is a three-room build featuring a large combined kitchen and living room almost entirely surrounded by windows, a bedroom and a bathroom. Various scripted fixtures exist in the kitchen/living room and bathroom, including controls for the lights and the opacity of the windows. The house also comes with a HUD for changing the colour of the walls in each room.

Hunting Partners

What better way to go hunting in the deep woods than with a bow and your trusted wolf?

The gnarly bridge leading over the stream and providing access to the woods is by Lore, as is the tree arch at the end of it. The bridge is almost made to look like it has grown into this shape, with the ends looking like roots. With the tree arch placed at one end, the impression is strengthened. You’ll find both at the current round of We Love Role-Play.

My tunic and my boots are also available at We Love Role-Play, from Viki and Kegel, respectively. The gorgeous long hair is another collaboration between Truth and Wasabi and features four different style options.  The poses and the bow are an older set from HopScotch. And finally, the wolf is of course Teegle’s new release from the Fantasy Faire, here with an applier from The Flying Pony.

Taking Liberties

I love the new dress from Tres for We Love Role-Play. Nephi is a scripted gown available for Inithium Khara, Legacy and Maitreya Lara that offers various states of undress through a Touch-menu. My favourite is this version, with the bodice pulled down to reveal one breast. However, the top only and bottom only versions have an added benefit—you can wear two dresses and get the top and bottom in different colours! I am wearing the Khara size and don’t forget that We Love Role-Play has a raffle for 5 Khara bodies that you can join by wearing the group tag and clicking one of the raffle boards at the event.

Also from We Love Role-Play is the Helvi forehead chain by NeonSheep, a very delicate and pretty piece of jewellery that I have included a close-up of below. It comes with a HUD for texture changes.

Even Ran picked up some new clothing from We Love Role-Play, after I pointed him to the Colorblock Doublet from Stitched. For male RP clothing, Stitched is definitely one of the best sources and this is a really nicely made doublet. I just wish someone was making this kind of clothing in female fits too. ;)

And though you don’t see too much of it, the interior is from Tirrany Designs Stylized Medieval Tavern. I really like the look of this build, but it is quite large and a little difficult for me to get good use of given my attempts at more realistic avatar sizes.

Fantasy Faire 2023: A Last Ride

The Fantasy Faire closed yesterday, but thankfully bloggers had a chance to wander the sims a final time today. I took the opportunity to ride through some of the sims on one of my trusty Teegle steeds and take a few last photos. I hope everyone has enjoyed the Faire and done lots of shopping and exploring. Until next year!

Fantasy Faire 2023: Noble Houses

I love taking photos at the Fantasy Faire while the Fairelands are still around, but to show off the beautiful new buildings from Del-ka Aedilis I had to return home and play around with building a whole new renaissance quarter to accommodate them! There’s a total of eight new buildings added to the Medici series and I’ve worked three of those into my setup together with a pair of previous releases.  In addition, I have added decor pieces from Harshlands and Contraption. But first, lets take a look at what I am wearing.

Chained Dancer

A new round of We Love Role-Play is dancing your way, full of new releases. It opens on the 4th of the month as usual and this round is also the Birthday Round, which means that there will be gifts available for group members. The first thing that caught my eye for this round was the pose set by Musa, featuring five dancing poses. I love the expressiveness of the arm and hand positions in particular and it seemed like a perfect match with the Melissa set from Kegel. I also added the Sunnidhar hand jewelry by Drunken Brokkr, to further accentuate the arms.

The hair is a new release from Wasabi, a very cute shoulder-length style with four different options that for example vary the bangs and whether or not you have the little mini braids framing the face. I’d love to see a longer version of this as well!

Fantasy Faire 2023: The Owls Are Watching

I’ve lost this post twice already and I have a headache, so for now I am posting this without the full credits and links. The dress is by Una, the mask by Cerberus and the halberd and cuffs by Petrichor. Poses by Pink Moon and chanimations and everything mentioned except the chanimations pose are from the Fantasy Faire. More to come when I have stopped cursing my website.

Fantasy Faire 2023: The Secrets of Opera

There’s a secret lair on Opera, well-stocked with wine and luxuriously furnished. Make sure you explore the sim thoroughly; it was beautiful before it was fully decorated and now it is just stunning. I wish it would stay around so that I could move in there, but alas, the Fairelands are ephemeral.

But I did at least get to move into the lair for a round of photos and naturally I needed a decadent and mysterious appearance for this. I picked Faida’s Brielle gown in Noir, one of two colours available as an RFL donation item. This slinky gown features a lace across the breasts, naughtily hinting but not revealing too much. I wanted to bring out the lovely Khara body again and Faida provides plenty of clothing for her already.

A mask was of course needed and this one comes from Hanzel. This is the standard version but there is also an RFL version. It makes beautiful use of materials and the HUD includes a nice range of possible texture options. And to add a touch of danger, the fingertips from the Vonnika hand jewelry set by Drunken Brokkr. The Kupra size will work for Khara as the hands are the same.

Fantasy Faire 2023: The Magic of Dragons

The Magic of Dragons is the name of this year’s quest at the Fantasy Faire, for many one of the highlights of the whole event. Featuring a new story every time, the quest takes you across the Fairelands to help the Bard Queen protect the lands from the Unweaver’s threats. This time, the quest is all about dragons, so it seemed appropriate to at least start off the quest in the shape of a dragon! Specifically, the Wyrmling Valorian Dragon avatar from Prehistorica, a brand new release for the Fantasy Faire and a fantastic treat for anyone who is a fan of the dragons of Westeros.

So, in the 100th Otherworldly vlog, I give you a look at the start of the quest as well as at the dragon avatar.  I hope you will enjoy it! More details about the dragon can be found below the video and the images.

The Queen’s Garden

Whenever she sought solitude, she went into the labyrinth No one else was allowed to come there, it was for the queen and the queen alone.

We Love Role-Play closes on the 28th of April and you do not want to miss this beautiful and detailed medieval gown by Grasshopper St. The Eleanor Sideless Surcote is very good when it comes to historical accuracy and offers several options for how to wear it and how to colour it. Yes, you can do a parti-coloured gown and yes, you can add on heraldic embroideries as well. You are also able to wear just the kirtle with a belt over it instead of having the surcote as well. All depending on how fancy and formal you want to be. This is definitely one of the best medieval gowns I’ve seen in Second Life.

Also from Grasshopper St is the Inlaid Circlet, though this one you will find at the Fantasy Faire. The same goes for the labyrinth and the matching gazebo by Fantavatar & Moonstruck.  I will try to give you a better look at the whole labyrinth as well, but I didn’t manage to do a garden setup that I was happy with for this post.

Fantasy Faire 2023: Operatic

Opera is this year’s grand vision from Alia Baroque, a place of “baroque decadence, whispering curtains, bucolic debauchery”.  So, when I dressed up in a dramatic ensemble combining pieces from Petrichor, Find the Fish and Seydr, it was to Opera I went for a background to fit the mood.

Petrichor released a huge amount of different items for the Faire and here I am using both the Arvylinde dress and the Kyrkonen Veil. The latter kind of makes me think of the Vorlons of Babylon 5 and I love how it, together with the tattoo and the halo from Find the Fish, give a very priestess-like quality to my avatar. Adding an extra touch of magic are the Flayre Eye FX from Seydr, a kind of animated “eyeliner” that curls like smoke under your eyes. Beautiful effect.
