Last week, I was reached by the sad news that Nephilaine, the creator behind the Muses, had lost her RL husband. A fundraiser had been set up for her and their twin children, to help with the expenses that cannot be avoided in a situation like this. In the long term, however, it will undoubtedly be important for the Muses to reach as many customers as possible. With that in mind, I created a video showcasing the store, hoping to encourage some old and new customers to visit and do some shopping.
I am still making my way through the LightStar heads and today I have Makeda to show you, a head with African features. As with all of the other LightStar heads, there’s a “companion” male head, in this case called Solomon. I do hope to show some more of the male heads as well but if it is a bit tough to find Omega skins for female heads it is 10 times worse for male heads. It may just have to wait for Bakes on Mesh to go live; in fact, I have tried several of these heads with some system skins in the project viewer and they work beautifully.
In this post I am also showing you the Maxwelle Chaise from the Plastik, the Fortuna bodysuit from Voluptas Virtualis and the Brooklyn hair from Wasabi.
I lost a bit of enthusiasm for writing this post due to that bloody football match that should have ended a minute or so earlier and/or had a penalty call for Sweden in the first half. But not that I am bitter or anything… ;P
Anyway, I wanted to get another Vintage Fair post out before it closes and since I also have a few more LightStar heads to show off, I decided to do both at the same time. Today’s head is Lin, one of the more distinctly ethnic heads from the range, and like all the other heads it is now down to just L$1000. I am wearing it with an Asian-inspired skin from Alaskametro and a Chinese-style gown rom Senzafine. The gown and the shoes (by Eclectica) are from the Vintage Fair, as are the poses by An Lar used for these shots.
The final weekend of the Vintage Fair is coming up and I thought I would show another favourite item from it, namely the striking High Council set from Roawenwood. It is perhaps a little more vintage than most, but certainly right up my alley. I knew I had to blog it as soon as I saw it and I love how it looks in the build from Fanatik’s Medieval Village set. To play the part of the lonely ruler, I opted to switch to a male avatar, which also gave me the chance to show off one of the male heads from LightStar as well as the male version of the Elvenne skins from the Plastik.
Lootbox is opening today and I am giving you a taste of two new releases you will find there, from deviousMind and Luxuria. As usual, the Lootbox gacha will include lootbox rares that offer things like whole item sets, special item sets and so on, rather than just single rare items. I’ve paired the Lootbox items with a new hair release from Wasabi and a skin from the massive new skin collection at the Plastik. I also want to give everyone a heads-up about a price reduction for some of my favourite mesh heads, namely the LightStar heads.
The last Deco(c)rate shipped out a few days ago. I did not buy it this month, but I have subscribed a few times and will be sad to see it go, though it does seem like subscription boxes have a limited lifespan. I do have one item from the last crate to show you, however, namely the Vina Dining Set from the Plastik. While the theme for the crate was La Dolce Vita, I found that this rustic set of tables, benches and side table looked quite nice next to one of my medieval village houses from Fanatik. So, I opted for setting up a very rustic “garden party”, using some food props from Aisling.
Vintage Fair 2018 has just opened and it offers two sims (North and South) full of vintage inspired wearables, accessories, decor and so on. Precisely what vintage provides the inspiration will of course vary greatly—I have spotted everything from Victorian to the 70’s in a quick browse of the sims—and there’s something for everyone, including the guys! In my first post for the event I am wearing a dress by Adam n Eve (sachi Vixen is finally getting back into clothing, yay), a hair by Sn@tch, shoes by Eclectica and using poses from Gingerfish.
As soon as I spotted the Imperial gacha by Enfant Terrible, I knew I had to play it a few times to get something together for Ran. He’s often too busy to be doing much shopping himself these days, but he’s happy to have things found for him and then get called for some photos. With my usual gacha luck, I didn’t get any rares or accessories, just several different colours of the main outfit, but it is quite nice on its own. I also picked up one of the laurels from the Marketplace and then set the scene with decor items from Libertine. My own outfit is from the Dreaming Thicket and my hair is an upcoming release from Stealthic.
It is time for We Love Role-Play again, so it was particularly appropriate that I ended up using the Roleplay HUD from Mythril to stage this scene. I have had so much use of it since the Fantasy Faire that I cannot recommend it enough to anyone who takes more story focused shots as opposed to modelling shots. In this case, the story is one of a woman looking out over the sea from high up in a castle, waiting for a ship that does not arrive. The new items featured are from Senzafine, lassitude & ennui and Wasabi.
Pure home & garden posts are fairly rare for me, usually I want to work in an avatar somewhere in the shot. But it can be detrimental to actually showing off larger pieces of landscaping or, as in this case, a whole building. So, when I couldn’t settle on the right look for my avatar or how to compose the shot with in avatar included, I decided to let the landscaping be the sole focus.
The new release featured here is the Small Longhouse from the Dreaming Thicket, with additional decor pieces from Fanatik, the Little Branch and Jian (if the goats will forgive me for being called decor).
It was the Sunray mirrors from the Plastik that gave me the idea for how to play with the light in this photo. As it happened, I also came across a windlight setting called Sunrays, and with a bit of tweaking I reached a result that I liked. Also featured in this photo is new lingerie from Voluptas Virtualis, new hair from Truth and a new-ish sofa from Noble Creations.
I had promised a proper write-up for these photos, but we were at a big dog show all weekend and I am still worn out. Add to that a heatwave that makes being at the computer uncomfortable and I will just have to settle for the credits.
Fallen Gods & Faida have another beautiful collaboration out at Romp and Fallen Gods also has a gorgeous tattoo to pair with it. I simply had to photo the combination, even though the dress (alas) is only fitted for Maitreya. Given this, I had to do a bit of image combining as the alpha cuts on my Slink Physique didn’t quite work with the plunging neckline. However, nothing about the look of the dress itself has been altered.
A touch of whimsy with this setup from Noble Creations, the Muses and Wasabi, inspired by the fact that the hairstyle is from the current round of Enchantment and its Alice in Wonderland-theme. The Rusty Gate (available with green leaves or rotten leaves) and the low wall make for a beautiful entrance into the enchanted woods, separating them from the mundane outside.
Luxuria’s thigh high stockings for ROMP set the tone for this post; they have “worship me” written into the seam on the back. I paired them with the Charline bodysuit from Voluptas Virtualis, though I passed on the included garters as they did not line up with the stockings. And just like I said in my previous post, you’re getting to see another colour of the Somber hair from Stealthic, here a dark wine-red. The poses are from the Madam Lyla Parlor Couch by Roawenwood.
